I bought my HP LaserJet 1012 one month before purchasing VISTA and had no reason to believe it would not be supported. I contacted Microsoft, and they suggested installing the driver for HP LaserJet 1015 and that they expected to have a driver to support the 1012 by July, 2007. The printer ran, but there were many features not supported, including the ability to make multiple copies of select pages.

The most frustrating part of this 'fix' is that after it prints about 30 pages, the message, 'Unsupported Personality: PCL', is printed on the remaining pages. Therefore it is impossible to make multiple copies of many documents without constant monitoring before it wastes paper. After that, the only solution is to turn the computer OFF and ON again. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!

I suggest that Microsoft come up with an update immediately or give HP LaserJet 1012 users some kind of reimbursement so they can purchase a printer supported by VISTA. You just need to download it and install it. I've been using my HP Laserjet 1012 since the late spring or summer, and have not experienced any problems. It was a good thing I have 4 other HP printers I could use, so I was not hamper with just having to wait for the driver.

HP Laserjet 1012 is not currently listed among the monochome Laserjet printers and when you go to the HP site, you will not find the updated driver for Vista.
