Hello all, Help will be greatly appreciated. We have got new hp proliant 350g6 server with 4 x 300gb hard drives with HP Smart Array P410i/256MB Controller (RAID 0/1/1+0/5/5+0). My problem is that I never done RAID5 configuration till now. So with help of hp smart start cd I managed to setup it as raid 5 but I am not sure whether I did correctly or not. In this regard I have 2 questions 1. Hp Officejet 7210xi All-in-one Printer Driver. When I installed win server2003, when I go to disk management C drive shows as 838gb, is this right?

I want to configure these hard drives as drive C:(60gb) drive (240gb) on raid5, how can I do this pls? Hp Designjet 800 Plotter Review. Thanks in Advance Kiran. Sounds like you're not in Production yet so you can probably re-install the server. Question #1: a single 838GB disk visible in Disk Mangler sounds about right for a 4x 300GB Disk RAID 5. You get 3 of the disks worth of capacity, so 900GB less formatting efficiency/rounding, therefore 838GB is about right.

Queston #2: In your install attempt, you missed a spot in Smart Start where you indicate how large to make the System Volume and so Smart Start used the default of using the entire raid volume. You don't have to re-create the array, but at this point you can: option 1) re-install the O/S beginning with Smart Start, paying closer attention and indicate 60GB where it asks for the volume size, or option 2) use a server re-partitioning software to resize your system volume to 60GB Once you have your O/S on the 60GB system volume, create your desired drive in Disk Manager.

If this server is not in Production, I would opt for the re-install.

NOTE: For additional information please visit: • Perform server maintenance — By selecting the Maintenance icon in SmartStart, you can perform the following: • Insight Diagnostics — Performs tests on system components. Insight Diagnostics displays information about a server's hardware and software configuration. You can perform hardware and software tests on the following subsystems: processor, input devices, communication ports and devices, storage devices, graphics, memory, multimedia devices, and the remote management processor (iLO, RILOE II). • ACU — ACU and ADU) have been combined into a single utility that enables you to configure and perform device tests on newly added Smart Array controllers and associated storage devices. • Erase Utility — Provides options to clean different areas of the system: attached drives, nonattached drives, BIOS, and nonvolatile RAM (NVRAM) For updated operating system and server support lists, see the SmartStart QuickSpecs.
