Probably wasted 20 hours with HP Chat support trying to resolve this problem, which I have resolved and share with those of you who might have this same unique situation. I have T400 running Vista Business 64. I had a glitch in my HP All in One Printer software - which had been working fine to communicate with my HP 7410 Printer. HP chat suggested a uninstall/reinstall. Install Windows Xp On Hp Dc 7900 Cmt more. Upon the reinstall which we tried about 30 times, the printer was 'not detected' on the network. After extreme frustration and turning off every security parameter on my machine during various iterations, I discovered the problem to be caused by ANOTHER application that is installed on my T400, the ATT Global Network Client. The discovery was by accident.

Click the start icon. In the search bar type 'firewall'. Normally only the Windows Firewall will show up. Cpanel Install Php Gd Library on this page. In my case the ATT Global Network Client has installed an additional firewall. This firewall is installed in a manner that is is always 'ON' even if you're not actively using the ATT service. I clicked on ATT Firewall icon, was presented with an ON/OFF screen, and disabled that firewall. The most frustrating thing is this firewall is not identified anywhere in the UI for the ATT Global Network Client either during setup or usage.

I didn't even know it was on my system. I leave it off, as I have Windows Firewall running normally, and many things on my system seem to be running faster and smoother. I leave this out here in case others have this same unique situation.
